Trediberri

Summary
Trediberri is a first-generation family winery established in 2007, farming 5-8 hectares in La Morra's Berri cru and Rocche dell'Annunziata, where calcareous marl soils shape their Barolo-focused portfolio. Their winemaking balances tradition with modernity through extended macerations and aging in large Slavonian oak casks, while their minimal-intervention viticulture has quickly earned them recognition as an important new voice in Piedmont's historic landscape.
Heritage & Leadership
Trediberri was established in 2007 in La Morra, within Piedmont's prestigious Barolo region. The winery represents a first-generation venture in an area often dominated by multi-generational estates. The founding partnership brought together three individuals: Nicola Oberto, his father Federico Oberto, and their friend Vladimiro Rambaldi. The name "Trediberri" reflects this founding structure, combining "tre" (three in Italian) with "Berri," the small locality in La Morra where their primary vineyard holdings are situated.
Nicola Oberto serves as the primary winemaker and has taken a leading role in both vineyard management and winemaking operations. The Oberto family manages the day-to-day operations of the estate, maintaining hands-on involvement throughout the production process.
Vineyards & Wines
Trediberri's vineyard holdings are centered in the Berri cru of La Morra, one of the communes within the Barolo DOCG zone. The estate comprises approximately 5-8 hectares of land, including parcels in the Rocche dell'Annunziata cru, a designated Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva (MGA) within the Barolo appellation. The vineyards feature the calcareous marl soils typical of La Morra's terroir, which contribute to the distinctive character of their wines.
The winery's production focuses primarily on Nebbiolo for their Barolo DOCG wines, including single-vineyard expressions that highlight the specific characteristics of their vineyard sites. Beyond their flagship Barolo offerings, Trediberri's portfolio includes Barbera d'Alba and Dolcetto d'Alba, two other traditional varieties of the Langhe region. They also produce Langhe Nebbiolo, offering an earlier-drinking alternative to their more structured Barolo wines.
Philosophy & Practice
Trediberri employs relatively traditional winemaking methods while maintaining modern cleanliness standards in the cellar. Their approach to Barolo production includes extended maceration periods to extract the structure and complexity characteristic of Nebbiolo. For aging, they utilize large Slavonian oak casks (botti grandi) rather than small French barriques, following the traditional practices of the region that allow for more gradual oxidation and less pronounced oak influence.
In the vineyard, Trediberri practices sustainable viticulture with minimal intervention, focusing on maintaining the health of their sites while respecting the natural environment. This approach reflects their commitment to expressing the authentic character of their La Morra terroir through their wines.
