Galardi

Summary
Galardi is a 25-hectare family estate in Campania's Terra di Lavoro region, with 10 hectares of hillside vineyards at 400 meters elevation producing their flagship Aglianico-Piedirosso blend from volcanic and limestone soils. Under longtime consultant Riccardo Cotarella's guidance, the boutique winery maintains an intentionally small production focused solely on their Terra di Lavoro wine, combining hand-harvesting with traditional fermentation methods and French oak aging.
Heritage & Leadership
Galardi was established in 1991 in Campania's Terra di Lavoro region by Maria Russo together with Arturo and Dora Celentano. The winery sits on family-owned land in Sessa Aurunca, where consulting winemaker Riccardo Cotarella has guided production since the winery's founding. Their inaugural vintage of Terra di Lavoro was released in 1994, marking the beginning of their focused production model.
Vineyards & Wines
The Galardi estate encompasses 25 hectares, with 10 hectares planted to vines at 400 meters above sea level. The vineyards, situated in Sessa Aurunca in Caserta province, benefit from southwestern exposure and volcanic soils interspersed with clay and limestone deposits. The estate's flagship wine, Terra di Lavoro, blends Aglianico and Piedirosso grown exclusively on these hillside plots.
Philosophy & Practice
Galardi maintains traditional viticultural practices, including exclusive hand harvesting of their vineyard blocks. The winemaking protocol begins with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The Terra di Lavoro sees 12 months of aging in new French oak barriques, followed by a mandatory 6-month bottle aging period before release. This methodical approach reflects their commitment to expressing the volcanic terroir of northern Campania.
