Cantenac, Clos

History and Background
Clos Cantenac, a charming six-hectare estate in Saint-Émilion, is situated near the historic "Megalith de Pierrefitte." Acquired in 2006, the property underwent a transformation, including revitalizing vineyard management, enhancing vineyard architecture, and renovating a 200-year-old winery, culminating in its first harvest in 2007. In 2017, Charlotte Krajewski, an accomplished winemaker with global experience, joined as Technical Director and Chief Winemaker, blending her expertise with the estate’s traditional practices to uphold the region’s rich heritage while crafting fine wines.
Vineyards and Terroir
Clos Cantenac's vineyards are located on a remarkable terroir of deep gravels, sand, and clay over limestone, with gently sloping, south-facing plots.
Wine Style and Production
Clos Cantenac combines respect for tradition with adaptability to changing vintages, producing wines that reflect both terroir and team expertise. Grapes are meticulously hand-harvested, sorted twice, and gently transferred into steel tanks and barrels. The winery, upgraded in 2015 with state-of-the-art facilities, including a new barrel hall and laboratory, ensures precision winemaking to capture the essence of their exceptional vineyards.
